Built to Last — Designed to Care
At Driift Customs, we believe that sustainability doesn’t end at checkout. The longer our products stay in use, the lighter the footprint we leave behind. That’s why we’ve created this Aftercare guide — to help you repair, maintain, and repurpose your gear so it continues to serve you (and the planet) for as long as possible.
Repair Guides (Coming Soon)
Sometimes, things wear down. That doesn’t mean they’re finished.
- Stitching: Learn simple hand-stitching methods to repair loose seams, patch small tears, or reinforce stress points. A few careful stitches can extend the life of your garment by years.
- Small fixes: Whether it’s replacing a button, patching a pocket, or re-threading a drawstring — we’ll share easy step-by-step guides to keep your gear adventure-ready.
(Stay tuned: we’ll be adding video guides and downloadable PDFs to make DIY repairs easier than ever.)
Care Tips
How you look after your clothing makes all the difference.
- Organic Cotton: Wash at 30°C, line dry where possible, and avoid tumble drying to preserve fabric strength and colour. Use eco-friendly detergents for the lightest environmental touch.
- Technical Fabrics (Nylon, Lycra, Polyester): Wash on a gentle cycle and avoid fabric softeners (they can damage performance properties like stretch and wickability). Always air dry to prolong life.
- General Guidance: Wash less often, spot-clean when you can, and repair before you replace.
Resale, Upcycle & Recycle
A piece of clothing doesn’t stop being useful when you stop wearing it.
- Resale: If your gear is still in good condition, pass it on — sell it, gift it, or swap it with someone who’ll use it.
- Upcycle: Get creative. Turn worn-out clothing into patches, rags, or something entirely new. Old skate decks? We’ve already shown how they can become rings, coasters, and bottle openers.
- Recycle: When an item has truly reached the end of its life, ensure it enters the correct recycling stream so the materials can be repurposed responsibly.
Why It Matters
Every repair, every careful wash, and every item given a second life keeps materials in circulation and reduces waste. It’s about respecting what we already have and honouring the resources that went into creating it.
At Driift Customs, sustainability is a journey. Aftercare is our way of walking that path together.
