Frustrated by Fight Shorts that were poorly made, badly designed or just plain ill fitting. The idea to create our own was born.
Traditional Thai boxing fight shorts were our main inspiration, but we wanted to combine a 16″ minimalist short, with more modern, 4 way stretch fabrics. Built to survive the scrambles of grappling and Jiu Jitsu, with the movement and flexibility required for Muay Thai and other stand up fighting. A multipurpose garment that you can even take surfing, being a staple that you would become lost without.
We found that a multi purpose short that could survive anything we threw at it, was proving impossible to find.
We found that many garments on the market fell short of things that we found to be paramount. So we thought we’d make our own.
With side slit details, taken from the traditional Thai Boxing Short, give the perfect amount of leg movement for high kicks, but are also great as a Surfing Board Short at the beach.
With their simple design, Driift takes a back seat, so you can begin to make them your own. They are the perfect base short for fighters, surfers, gyms and fight teams to co brand with their sponsors logos and other advertisers.
Sketches complete and features agreed, we began embarking on the treacherous path of finding a clothing company that could help realise our vision and produce a high quality, cost effective, sustainable pair of multipurpose shorts.
After weeks of searching, our first batch of samples arrived. We were excited and the samples were a good start, but we began to realise how much we’d underestimated the amount of small details required to meet our exacting standards.
With feedback from our local fighters, we refined our specifications and technical pack further, and now we’re on sample batch number two. We’ve now added extra patterns for Women and smaller sizing for the groms. The women’s fit also includes a handy integral under short. We also took an important decision to remove all velcro as it frustratingly, sticks to the rest of your training gear, fraying other fabrics.
Final samples are now in, so these quality 16″ fight shorts will be dropping in the UK very soon.
