Landyachtz Dinghy (Summit) Cruiser Skateboard | Driift Review

We were excited to receive this in the post, the self-proclaimed ‘best cruiser board ever made’.

The Landyachtz Dinghy ‘Summit’.

This can be seen as an attempt to have a single solution, capable of handling all the things you could throw at a skateboard.

You can tell they have precisely engineered this skateboard specifically for the user, no wonder it has withstood the test of time (over 20 years).

Landyachtz are primarily a longboard company but in the dinghy, they have created a very capable all-rounder that any skateboarder could get along with.

For the specification of this board, it has:

  • Small lightweight 28.5 inch deck with generous kick tail (for turns and tricks)
  • 8” wide
  • Mellow concave deck made From 7 ply Canadian maple
  • Super soft 78a big Hawgs wheels (a Landyachtz owned company)
  • Polar Bear trucks
  • Space ball bearings- This one doesn’t have the foam back grip tape (which is often a nice feature on a cruiser deck)
  • And the usual graphics that the riders know and love.

With this combination, the more than capable all-rounder is born, cruising the streets is breeze, with a shape that makes it capable for tricks and getting around a skatepark.

This board is very agile to turn and slide, and rugged enough to skate ditches and rough terrain, even getting over patches of mud and grass.

If I could only have one skateboard in my inventory, the Landyachtz Dinghy will be my choice as its capabilities overlap with so many other types of board.

Now to get on to its downsides, which centres around its size. This may actually be a positive for some, but from our perspective, its wheelbase is quite short, the 8” deck could feel a bit narrow for those with bigger feet, and may just feel a bit small for the bigger rider in general. Landyachtz haven’t forgotten about you if you are a bigger rider, just check out the dinghy’s big brother, the Tugboat.

Overall, whether you’re looking for your first skateboard or are a seasoned pro and are looking to add another board to your quiver, this well designed lightweight board is designed to last, super soft smooth riding (can get fast downhill, watch out beginners), and well-rounded for cruising, commuting, park and tricks.
